I believe you need good documentation to be overly specific. This is because sometimes we don’t realize the things we might think are “obvious” might not be to others new to doing a task or the thing you are creating the documentation for. My project’s documentation will consist of the tree data that was collected and it’s incorporation into the tree map we are creating with arcGIS experience builder.

So have I have met with my professor about 4 times this semester. We have a decent idea of what we want the project to look like and in the end. That being a navigable website for students and people in the community to interact and learn more about the trees on campus, what types, their environmental impact and other facts most people don’t know about them when walking around day-day. what apps and other programs we want to use to make that happen. This program being arGIS experience builder, right now I’m still working through some tutorials and plan to take steps towards larger work on the app itself after fall break. Me and my professor plan to meet after the break to discuss some more ways to meet with people within the prairie center here at Grinnell to get their feedback on what I show them after a couple weeks. I feel the obstacles so far are that I am coming in with zero or minimal gis experience so I’m having to teach myself the work and also find videos and other places online where to get the information. After the break I will be taking a GIS course here at the college and I hope this will help me with my skills and getting my way towards the project later on. I also might be helpful practicing the gis skills outside of work and asking questions about it to classmates and the professor. Other main obstacles have been just the timing of midterms really. This week I have been packed with multiple papers, two exams and a mini-project which has eaten up a vast majority of my time the last two weeks. I do hope things quiet down the week I get back so I have devoted more time to this project. One question is where would be the best place to find a GIS tutorial on a similar locator that’s like on google maps that tracks your location.

I felt very comfortable with audacity. I use it a lot in my free time and premier pro. I would feel great about helping anyone with problems with their projects that use audacity. I definitely think the envelope tool is the most difficult part of audacity for stuff like that for fading in and out I personally just use adobe.

I feel pretty comfortable with the Gale Digital Scholars Lab. This is my second time using it since my 100 class last semester and I feel like I am starting to get a good grasp of the website. I found the cleaning part the most interesting as it saves so much time picking and going through unnecessary words. Also I find cleaning the most frustrating because at times there are words that I forgot to add to the list and like mr but with a “.” or misspelled words. Right now I don’t think I have many. This is a tool I know decently well at this point.
