This semester, I had no projects, so I spent my time improving areas where I found weaknesses from last year. Those were my website creation, accessibility, and resume-building skills. I would give myself the advice to keep on top of things and document every little action. This is not coming from this semester, but from my experiences last year. I think getting started very early and staying on top of things as soon as I can will help reduce the stress of the mid-semester crunch, the need to push over detailed documentation, and the risk of losing track of work I did during the year. I think what I was most proud of this year with Vivero was taking the time to look back on the last year, learn from my mistakes, and set goals to build a better project next year. I felt this and last spring were times when I took on too much and did things that were unrealistic. There was something I wanted my project to be, and I tried to make it a reality, even though what I wanted to do with it was outside the app’s constraints and beyond the resources I had at the time. Starting small and then building piece by piece is a better mindset to have going into next year. I also think I might not want to do a 9-11 shift if I can manage it, since I found myself less productive, and the work I did this year during those hours, especially around 10:30, was lackluster and often needed to be redone. I can remember having to redo some training because when I read it late at night, the next day, I could not remember anything I had read or done. I feel like I should think about scholarship topics or things I would be interested in for next semester. Right now, I feel like maybe a website or a historical project could be interesting, or even something outside my comfort zone, to expand my skills. I was also thinking about possibly having a project that could be done in a semester, as my spring semester is a lot heavier and time-restricted than the fall. This could even be a larger project in the fall, followed by a smaller one or an update to a former project in the spring. I just hope that next fall goes way better than this spring and last spring.
